La règle du 60-30-10
Il s'agit d'une théorie des couleurs classique en décoration d'intérieur.

60 % de la pièce est composée de votre couleur dominante (généralement les murs et les sols).

30 % est votre couleur secondaire (tissus d'ameublement et tapis).

Si votre sol (les 60 %) est foncé, votre tapis (les 30 %) doit assurer une transition harmonieuse avec vos meubles. S'ils sont trop similaires, le contraste des 30 % disparaît, ce qui déséquilibre les proportions.

Souvent utilisée en menuiserie pour les angles droits, la règle du 3-4-5, dans notre domaine de l'aménagement d'espace, fait référence à la superposition des textures pour éviter qu'un tapis ne paraisse plat sur le sol.
Si vous choisissez un tapis de couleur similaire à votre sol (faible contraste), vous devez augmenter la variété des textures. L'idéal est d'obtenir :

Une question qui revient souvent concerne les revêtements de sol anciens : « Mon parquet est en chêne aux tons chauds et orangés, que faire ? »
Il s’agit d’un problème de correction des couleurs. L’orange est la couleur opposée au bleu sur le cercle chromatique.

À éviter : les tapis rouges, oranges ou jaunes. Ils donneront à votre sol un aspect de lave.

Au-delà du choix de la couleur du tapis, il est essentiel d'évaluer ses caractéristiques techniques. On n'achète pas un tapis pour aujourd'hui, mais pour les cinq prochaines années, compte tenu du passage fréquent.
1. Durabilité du contraste
Si vous optez pour un tapis clair contrastant avec un sol foncé, vous vous engagez dans un entretien régulier. Les tapis clairs à fort contraste laissent apparaître instantanément les traces de saleté.
